There may be further loss of jobs, as the Limerick branch of Uniphar has announced they are to make an 18% cut in jobs across the Uinphar group of companies. 113 people are employed at the Uniphar opeartion in Garryglass. A statement from Uniphar has revealed the loss of jobs is due to the downturn in the Irish economy.
It is expected the 18% staff cut will effect jobs in Limerick, Dublin, Sligo and Cork. It is unclear as of yet how many jobs will be lost in the Uniphar Limerick branch. Furthermore workers who retain their jobs will be faced with a pay cut of between 7% and 10%.
