Limerick City Council are hoping that the repaired Christmas tree will be ready in the coming weeks. The tree was damaged after strong winds pushed it into the River Shannon. The repair work is estimated to have cost around 30,000 euro. A spokesperson from Limerick City Council has confirmed that no decision has been made as of yet whether or not to float the tree in the River Shannon after repairs.

A file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to the stabbing of a 15 year old school girl in Doon, Co. Limerick. 3 females, one in her twenties and two teenagers were arrested in relation to the incident. All 3 were arrested in Murroe, Co. Limerick, and later released without charge. It is expected that the gardai will recommend to the DPP that charges be brought against the 3 in relation to the stabbing.
